This is a short article from 2004 discussing some rhythmical concepts on how I approach "odd-meters", specifically in a fast cycle of 9 in relation to the music I perform with Rabih Abou-Khalil. It contains some rhythmic ideas coming from north and west Africa, as well as Iraq, Syria, and Spain. The musical example referred to is Ma Muse M'Abuse, from the album Morton's Foot (Enja Records 2003). With Michel Godard (Tuba), Luciano Biondini (Accordion), Gabriele Mirabassi (Clarinet).
